Poets Corner
The Ranting,Raving,Rambling Rambler
I met a rambler
on the lane
He started shouting
Most insane
He said I made
A big deep rut
The lane should just
Be walked on foot
I damage everything
He said
He actually wished
That I were dead
He called me daft
And such a fool
I just sat
And kept my cool
He kept on ranting
Very mad
I just thought
How very sad
I thought I'd put
My case to him
But found it hard
He's very dim
He wouldn't listen
To a word
Only scowled
And said absurd
He started raving
Very cross
About the flowers
And the moss
I laughed at him
It made him worse
His words I cannot
Print in verse
When he finished
I did go
Whoops my wheel
Ran o'er his toe
Restoration or Resurrection
I bought a landy
It looked good
But it turned out
It could be dud
The headlights blinked
And then went out
It will be the fuse
No doubt
The shock absorbers
Work no more
My foot just went
Down through the floor
The seats are tatty
And well worn
I think I'll have
To fix the horn
The oil sump leaks
It's very shocking
I can hear
The big ends knocking
The bumpers bent
The spare wheel's gone
It's not too bad
This series one
I'll have a respray
That's a must
When I've fixed
This pile of rust
The steering wanders
Quite a lot
The chassis full
Of rust and rot
The tyres are bald
The exhausts broke
The diff is shattered
That's no joke
The springs are tired
Just like me
The windscreens cracked
I cannot see
If you were a Land Rover
Truck cab,hard top
Soft top too
Or would you be
H.C.P.U
Forward control
Or 101
Or do you think
You're a stage one
The carawagon's
More sedate
Or would you be
A big V8
On reflection
Twixt me and you
I think i'm like
A series two
The series two's
Been round a while
But at least
It's got some style
Freelander's a
New pretender
Perhaps you're more
Like a defender
Wolfs,camels
Llamas too
Or pink panthers
Which one's you
As a half track centaur
You'd be cool
Or would you be
The very first mule
If you were a Land Rover
Which model would you be
Series one,series two
Or even series three
Range Rover and
Tickford too
Which of these
Is most like you
Safari,county
Or 2B
Could one of these
Be like me
Disco,ninety
Rapier too
Is one of these
Just like you
An ode to Bumpy and Grumpy
I'll fix it now
And then tommorow
It will give me
Some more sorrow
It isn't fast
it's very slow
It's getting old
And me also
Why do I keep it
I don't know
It gives me pain
And more sorrow
Off we go
One more green lane
Oh my knees
Oh the pain
I love it really
That's no joke
I'm just a sad old
Landy bloke
We'll both grow old
And then one day
We'll drive that green lane
Just one way
It's old it's cold
It moans and groans
The cold gets through
Into my bones
It rattles and shakes
It's got no brakes
Oh my bones
Ive got some aches
The roof it leaks
It lets in rain
Oh my bones
I've got some pain
The landy's broke
And so am I
I think we'll both
Curl up and die
Bumpy
Grumpy

Land Rover Dreaming
The chassis sound
No rust to hide
And leaf springs
Give a comfy ride
The noise level
Is very low
I can hear
The radio
The lights all work
The horn is fine
I'm glad this Land Rover
Is mine
It goes along just
Like a rocket
The fuel cost
Doesn't hurt my pocket
Everything is
Very good
All things work
Just like they should
Is everything
Just as it seems
Or is it only
In my dreams
I think my
Land Rover's unique
It's got a roof
That doesn't leak
The door seals
Do not let in water
The steering does
Just what it oughta
The engine's fine
The gear box sound
The body work
Is straight all round
The speedo works
It's in good form
The heater keeps me
Nice and warm
